BUILD OR RUIN

"Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
(Romans 12:2 MSG version)

Recently we are facing the digital era which offers a lot of entertainments and information. We can create a social community or even ruin it. We can tighten the relationship or even break it. It really depends on us: Do we really have a deep consideration before take an action?

Nowadays, People are more likely to spend their time too much to scroll down their Instagram or post their thoughts on Facebook. They are so fervent to show off their belongings or recent photograph with eye-catching background (which is also known as Instagramable scenery). They are so quick to share their photo and sometimes without a deep thinking. Some people will be very busy to update their status on Facebook (or other social media). Sometimes their privacy or others are accidentally being exposed because they are too eager to tell to the world what they think without a profound consideration. Both Instagram and Facebook (or other social media) can be a very good media to share with others and bound a tight relationship or they can ruin a tight relationship in a second. This depends on us : do we have a deep consideration before share it?. Therefore To think deeply before act is the very important factor. Sadly this factor has gradually vanished among our society. People tend to superficially share their thoughts and judgment to others which can create a conflict. As a result, a social community will be no more, ruined by social media because the lack of deep consideration from us.

Bible warned us not to be well-adjusted to our culture that we fit into it without even thinking. It means we can not just easily follow what most people do without consider deeply the consequences of our action or word. If most people use social media to share or show off their negative thoughts, do we want to follow them to do same thing? Bible also clearly said that we must fix our attention on God. It means we must have a Christ-oriented mindset which makes us completely imitate Jesus Christ. This mindset also leads us to the spiritual maturity through the word of God. On the contrary, if we follow what most people do we will have the self-pleasure-oriented mindset which makes us follow our own pleasure. Bible said that our pleasure can not be satisfied. Once we fill our heart with a self-pleasure, it will ask for more pleasures. As a result our lives will be dragged close to the self-pleasure but far from God. The more we fill our heart with our self-pleasure, the further we are dragged away from God. Therefore, we must consider deeply the consequences before we do something. Does it please God or please ourselves?

In our daily life, we can start seeing around us to recognize our cultures. We are living among society, it means we are living by following a particular culture. Knowing the culture around us is very important to understand how we must react. If we are living in the modern city where most people are spending their time to scroll down their social media, so we must carefully and wisely use that social media. Use that wisely to build a community or tighten the relationship not to ruin or break it.

The Vine and The Branch

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." [John 15:1-4] To be a sturdy Christian means we must stay in the word of God which is able to enrich our knowledge and enlighten our path. In the book of John, Lord likened Himself as a vine while we are the branch. That leads us to a tantalizing question: What does the vine mean and what is the main role of the vine itself? Moreover, If we separate ourselves from the vine, what will happen? The Lord is the vine, as the bible said, means He is the source of everything we need. It includes our knowledge, strength, prosperity, and wisdom. Jesus taught clearly

The Obedient Sheep

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way [ Isaiah 53:6a] Bible describes us like a sheep that has gone astray due to we tend to take our own way. Moreover, in fact, we are eager to walk swiftly and rashly even though we are heading to the Death Valley.  Specifically, the vivid consequences of going astray is we will have no interest in learning bible, which means our frame of mind will not be formed and revised by the word of God. We will not be able to hear His admonishment at all. As a result, we are inclined to decide what we are going to do by our own thought. For example, when we are in a daze due to we are dealing with a lot of ordeals, what are we planing to? Will we seek some indulgences outside or take some times to pray to God? Are we more interested in babbling over our predicaments with friends or discussing it rigorously with our christian friends who know profoundly about bible and able to give a prudent advice? As Jesus s

Be Strong in The Trial

No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it. [1 Cor 10:13] NIV In our daily life, we may face frequently toward several trials, which sometimes we think those trials are a heinous predicament. For example, when we are doing our business, it is more likely that we are stumbled or outfoxed by our partner. Moreover, in our workplace, we probably must face with a mountainous backlogs when we have arrived in the office. Those are the reality of trial that we often meet in our daily life. Undoubtedly, we need to realize that trial has truly existed in our daily life and there are no ways to avoid it. As a Christian, we normally question to a ubiquity and a miraculous act of God by grumbling “Lord, where are You? Do You really want me to overcome this predicament alone? Lord, I am going to give up in hand
